Is it worth it to re-take a Grade 12 Course?

Last year In grade 11 I slacked off, never really did my homework, did assignments last minute, and only started studying for exams the night before. I didn’t really put too much effort into school because I thought I was going to go to the U of A where you only need a 85 average for the science program. Anyway, this year I decided that I want to apply to a very competitive program in Australia. From what I’ve heard you pretty much need a 95+ average from your top 5 grade 12 core subjects.

Last year I fast tracked grade 12 math and biology. I got a 97 in Math and a 92 in Biology. It really bugs me that I wasn’t motivated because I know for a fact that I could’ve gotten a 100 in Math and a 95+ in Bio. I’m not going to retake Math 30-1 because I still want to take Math 31 (calculus) this year. But I was wondering, is it worth it to retake Bio 30 if I got a 92?

Lol, what program is this? What are you going to do about obtaining a visa and paying international student fees?

  2. How much do you think each 1% change in your Bio mark is going to translate into your top 5 average?
Even if you managed to get 100% in your other 3 courses in addition to the 97% you already got in math, for every 1% you increased your Bio mark you would see a 0.2% increase in your overall average. The most you could your boost your average is 1.6% and that's only if you also got 100% in Bio. Given that the likelyhood of you actually getting 100% in those 4 courses is negligible the actual change in your overall average by boosting your Bio mark would be even less. Is it really work retaking Bio for a max potential increase of 1.6% (and most likely much less than that) to your overall average?
